A number of our beaches hold the Seaside Award, which ensures visitors are guaranteed to find a clean, safe, attractive and well-managed coastal stretch.
The East Riding coast boasts six award beaches. These are Flamborough South Landing, Bridlington North, Bridlington South, Wilsthorpe, Hornsea and Withernsea. There are many factors which contribute to the type of award for which each beach is eligible. To find out more visit The Seaside Awards website.
There is much more coastline to explore, however some of these may have limited access. You can find all main beaches with access information on our find a place directory.
Use the Swimfo website to check the bathing water quality at beaches nationwide.
Read more about the coastal team's work around beach accessibility, and view our AccessAble reports, which gives accessibility information about the main resort beaches.
Deckchairs and windbreaks are available for hire at Bridlington (subject to weather conditions) at both the north and south Bridlington coastal services offices, all of which are well signposted on the seafront.
Have you seen our beach wheelchairs available to borrow from the south side coastal services office?
Visiting the beach can be a splendid day out for all ages, however changing tides, crowded areas, and many other factors can make it dangerous if you are caught out or unaware. For full coastal safety advice please read the Coast Code page.
The RNLI provide lifeguard services to some areas in Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea at select dates through spring and summer. Visit the RNLI website to check locations, times and dates of services. The RNLI website also has information on the meanings of flags and signs found at the beach.
