Whilst the East Riding contains some great places to take your dog/s for long walks with beautiful views please be aware there is a seasonal dog ban (1 May to 30 September) which applies to the exercising of dogs on beaches at Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea.

Please be a responsible dog owner and keep in mind that dogs are affected by hot weather and can intimidate young children playing. Keep your dog on a lead and under control and remember to clean up after your dog (bag it and bin it!).

The seasonal dog ban (from 1 May - 30 September), applies to any of the following beaches:

• Bridlington North Beach
• Bridlington South Beach
• Hornsea Beach
• Withernsea Beach

Anyone found guilty of ignoring the ban will face a fixed penalty notice of £75. Where offenders fail to pay the fixed penalty notice further legal action may be taken against the person in control of the dog at the time of the offence.

Please note: Assistance dogs, including Guide Dogs, are exempt form the dog ban. However, assistance dogs do need to kept on a lead in this area. This is consistent with the Equality Act 2010.

No horses are permitted on the beaches at Bridlington, Hornsea or Withernsea at any time.

Horse riders approaching Bridlington from the south along the beach should be aware that they are only permitted as far north as the South Cliff Chalets at the south end of Bridlington beach.
